We spent the days following Christmas at Mena Homestead enjoying our time with Kelli, Kye, Lindsay, his kids Dylan and April, cousin Mark, and several of their closest friends. Mena truly is a special place and it was hard to pack up and leave.
Merry Christmas everyone! We’re having a wonderful Australian holiday with Kelli and family.
Before we left Mount Gambier, we stopped by to see the Blue Lake, very original name right? Then we headed to see the Big Lobster! It’s located in the small town of Kingston SE.
After leaving Melbourne, we headed down the coast and across the Great Ocean Road.
We had a great time in Melbourne! Unlike the other major cities we’ve visited in Australia, it’s a bit more rough around the edges. But we liked that about it.
After leaving Sydney’s CBD, we took a short detour to the Featherdale Wildlife Park. It’s a privately funded and operated park with dozens of animal species, many of which you can pet and feed like a petting zoo. Here are some highlights:
We had three days to explore around Sydney. In addition to a touristy bus tour, we also ate some amazing food and stayed at the swanky Park Hyatt Sydney hotel.
Not sure if US media is covering the hostage situation in Sydney, but wanted to let everyone know that we’re safe. Prayers for all those involved. Feel free to email us if you want to check in. Xoxo
After a four-hour drive down the coast, we made our way to the city of Port Macquarie. It’s a pleasant beach town with a lively waterfront. They also have a koala hospital, which was our first up-close experience with the gentle animals.
Earlier today we packed up and headed out of the Gold Coast. Our plan is to be in Sydney by Monday, so we’re splitting the drive into a couple day trips. We started with an hour drive inland to visit the Springbrook National Park rainforest and take a hike to the park’s natural bridge.
